Artistic Movement: Visual Artists present Dance Themes in Celebration of Isadora Duncan Dance Festival May 5th - 8th |
Grass Valley, April 12, 2005 -- Heidelberg Editions International has announced an exhibit of the works of E.J. Gold and the Grass Valley Graphics Group together with long-time Isadora Duncan photographer Margaretta K. Mitchell entitled Artistic Movement to be held in the Van Gogh Room of the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley, California, in conjunction with the Isadora Duncan Dance Festival May 5th through 8th, 2005.
The artists are presenting works that have a dance theme to compliment and celebrate the Festival performances of Lori Belilove & Company, the resident dance company of the Isadora Duncan Foundation for Contemporary Dance which will be conducting performances, workshops and classes on the Center stage and at the Sierra Dance Institute also located at the Center for the Arts.
For the exhibit, Margaretta K. Mitchell will show some rare prints of Lori Belilove & Company, and at the reception on May 5th will share her portfolio of the history of the dance company.
Making a rare public appearance at the exhibit will be E.J. Gold's famed sculpture, The Dancer. Artist E.J. Gold has also painted the theatrical stage backdrops for the performances.
The Grass Valley Graphics Group will contribute approximately 50 pieces from artists including S.L. Boyd, Lil McGill, Zoe Alowan, Kelly Rivera, E.J. Gold, Lily Nova, Lin Larsen, R.C. Trice, Denise Wey, Claude Needham, Edy Britts, Michele deParis, Yanesh, Leila Sack, Menlo Macfarlane, Aviko and more to be announced.
The exhibit will be open to the public during the regular business hours of the Center for the Arts. A docent will be on duty and the artworks will be for sale with proceeds to benefit the Center for the Arts.
The public is also welcome to join the Grass Valley Graphics Group in its reception for Lori Belilove & Company in the Van Gogh Room on Thursday, May 5th, at approximately 8:30 p.m., after the Lecture / Demonstration, for music, champagne and hors d'oevres.
