Born in 1946 in San Bernadino, California, Patt Wilson
McDaniel had an early
background rich in art, dance and music, and was influenced
at a young age
by Southern California counter-culture such as the beat poets
and longhaired dancers of Coffee House Positanos in Malibu.
Always in the company of artists and musicians she studied
the arts at Ventura College and San Francisco State: life
drawing, watercolor, painting & perspective, drawing and
composition, ceramics and photography.
A professional
calligrapher and knowledgeable in California native plants and
herbs, Patt lived on a Santa Paula lemon orchard where she
worked on Views from the Weir, a book of rural
photography and calligraphic poetry. Associated with
Alvarado Street artist and sculptor Harvey Khun and New
York assemblagist Charles Ames, and an active
environmentalist, Patt now makes her home in a remote
mountain canyon in
Upper Ojai, making regular visits to northern California to
work with the Grass Valley Graphics Group artists and to
study painting with artist E.J. Gold.
 Whether traveling or
retreating to her cabin home, Patt merges her life long love of
art and nature with pure expression to create subtle and
beautiful landscape paintings imbued with the her own unique
style and lighthearted, gentle spirit.
Her paintings have been exhibited in Los Angeles, Malibu,
Grass Valley, Ventura and Ojai.
