Daniel X is a writer, filmmaker and painter of abstracts whose current artistic endeavors reveal several of his perceptual influences including William Blake, Federico Fellini, the New York School, and the Marx Brothers.

His incorporation of gesture art and pure abstract forms via the acrylic medium provide him with a platform for his ongoing explorations into the realms of mystery that lie just beyond the veil of the hidden and around the corner of the ordinary.

He has studied art and other forms of essential communication with renown perceptual scientist EJ Gold, and is currently collaborating on the development of a “Special Collector’s Series” of DVD’s featuring Gold conducting master classes for his art students.

Daniel X traveled the world early on in pursuit of understanding the true nature of perception, and to learn the secret of Three Card Monty. His searches led him to unique encounters with the likes of whirling dervishes, master Bokhara rug weavers, as well as cultmeisters such as Buckminister Fuller, John Lennon, and Carlos Castaneda, who ordered the BLT from the greasy spoon where Daniel X plied his trade as a busboy.

Daniel X’s lifelong pursuit of the arts has led him to multiple arenas of study, including film and video production, where he has produced and directed over a hundred commercials, short films and documentaries. He was also an original member of the legendary North American Bunraku Theater, which introduced the West to the ancient performance art of Japanese puppetry.

Daniel X is a member of the Grass Valley Graphics Group, based in the Sierra foothills of California. His work has been exhibited in conjunction with a number of group shows throughout Southern California, where he currently maintains an alchemical laboratory and fix-it shop.

Daniel X is currently hard at work producing a series of giant canvases for an upcoming show entitled “Pass the Tomato Juice”, as well as finalizing a new screenplay, a comedy based on the Big Bang.
